Big Box Little Box – Caryl Hart & Edward Underwood
Officially my favourite new children’s book. Written by Caryl Hart and illustrated by Edward Underwood it is a story of a cat, a mouse, some boxes and friendship. It is a truth, near enough universally acknowledged, that cats love boxes and that cats like mice – though maybe not in the sweet way that the cat in this book likes mice.
I like to think that the cat in the story is Pocket, the cat that lives with Edward Underwood and his partner Lisa Jones. I also like to think of this book as the big reveal that . . . . much of the great designs that come out of the Lisa Jones studio originate with Ed . . . but that she gets all the glory! Do what you like with that insight . . . it’s a lovely book.
