Boxed Set of Opal-Ended Coffee Spoons

While this set of 6 coffee spoons is marked ‘Sterling Silver’ owing to the (rightly) rigorous regulations around selling precious metals I can only describe them as white coloured metal as they do not bear silver hallmarks of any kind.

This set of coffee spoons was probably made in the 1970s or 80s as an Australian tourism gift – Australia being the largest supplier of both black and white opals.

They are somewhat rustically made – the bowls of the spoons aren’t perfectly central to the stem of the spoon but they are really stylish things and if they were brought to the table with coffee after dinner they would certainly impress. The opals are all quite bright and fiery (a good thing!).

Measurements (case):

17cm x 11.2cm x 2cm

Measurements (each spoon):

9.2cm long 1.2cm wide
