Sylvac Green Scale Vase
Sylvac (the c at the end of the name should be capitalised but it always looks like a typo if it is done properly!) were a Stoke on Trent pottery founded in 1894. The heyday of their production was probably the 1960s when they achieved favour with their animal figurines as well as a range of kitchen storage jars which feature anthropomorphic vegetables. They also produced pieces such as the one here which have a lifespan in today’s homes in a way that a jar shaped as a crying onion might not!
The decoration on this vase or planter has the form of scales or roof shingles glazed in an attractive green. The vase is in good condition with no chips or cracks. It is the Sylvac pattern number 2461.
