Set of 4 Hollinshead & Kirkham Dessert Bowls

Hollinshead and Kirkham were a Potteries based manufacturer that originall opened their factory in Burslem in 1870, by 1876 they had moved to Tunstall. In 1915 Clarice Cliff briefly worked for the company as a lithographer.

These bowls were probably made in the 1930s. The factory was known as the Unicorn Pottery and the backstamp that the company used at this time had a graphic interpretation of a unicorn, the Unicorn Pottery site had previously been used by Wedgwood. The mark on the back of these bowls was in use by the company from 1933-1942.

The outline of the design is transfer printed on these bowls and the rest of the coloured decoration has then been applied by hand.

All in good condition with no chips. One of the bowls has a small fine firing crack which only shows on the uppermost surface of the bowl.
