Portugese Terracotta Water Jug
This water jug was made at the Obar pottery in Portugal. It was invariably probably made for the tourist trade market but there is something elegant and charming about the form and decoration which means that it deserves a life outside of the Kiss-Me-Quick territory! The simple white pattern is applied on top of the terracotta brown background and is slightly raised above the that surface.
The jug would work well as a water jug or alternatively could be used as a vase, perhaps overflowing with cow parsley.
As well as this water jug we have two smaller jugs which were probably made as oil and vinegar jugs.
Diameter: 12cm approx.
