Description
Portugese Terracotta Jugs
These jugs were made by the Obar pottery in Portugal.
One of the jugs is marked V and the other A. I suspect that that they may be intended to be oil and vinegar jugs, bit while the Portugese for vinegar tallies with the V, the Portugese for oil doesn’t tally with the A.
The jugs have removable lids which again supports the idea that they housed the ingredients for a salad dressing. They are decorate in white on top of the brown body of the vessels.
As well as these smaller jugs we also have a large water jug made by the same company.
Both V & A jugs are in good condition and could be used as vases for a small posy of flowers.
