Pair of Textured Staffordshire Seated Dogs
The textured finish on the coat of these dogs is one of my favourite variants of the Staffordshire dog. It is reminiscent of fine grained pebble dash and reminds me of the clipped coat of a poodle. I particularly like the texture of the end of the dog’s tail coupled with the bronzey-gold of their collar and the slightly startled look on their faces.
The painting of these facial features is actually quite fine with the nose being given a base coat of a red before the glossy back of the front section of their nose. The eyes of the dogs are also cleanly painted with a yellow iris and jet black pupil.
The pair would look very handsome on a mantelpiece or equally on a deep window sill or side table.
The dog that is seated with its face to the right has at some point broken his back leg and this has been repaired; apart from this minor damage the dogs are in very good condition with no other chips or cracks.
