Pair of Seated Staffordshire Spaniels

If you are looking to perfect the art of the eye roll then you might need to take tuition from this pair of Staffordshire dogs. Their combined eye rolls are heavy on the implied cynicism and boredom as well as having a tough of disdain.

As with all Staffordshire figures it is the element of hand painting that results in these individual characteristics and means that one piece has character and is different from another made from the same mould.

These dogs have hand applied decoration on their faces as well as the markings on their coat and tail. The gold lustre collar and chain are also highlighted with a personal touch.

This pair is a medium height and could sit proudly on a mantelpiece, bookshelf or side table. There is some crazing to the glaze but they are otherwise in very good condition with no chips or cracks. They probably date to the late 19th Century.

Measurements (each dog)

Height: 22.5cm
Width: 16cm
Depth (front to back): 13cm
