Mottled Wade Heath Vase
Wade ceramics were founded in 1810 and specialised in various ceramics but are perhaps most famous for their collection of Wade Whimsies which were collectable small figurines. The Whimsies started off as a small marketing strategy but took off and became a core range for the company.
Wade went through various stages of ownership and name changes. This Wade Heath vase has a relatively unusual backstamp which bears the name Flaxman as well as Wade Heath; this marking was used at the end of the 1930s. The vase has a great urn shape and a pretty mottled glaze in which the base primrose coloured glaze is overlaid with decoration in a darker egg yolk colour which was probably applied with a sponge.
In good condition with no chips or cracks.
