Totland Bay Pottery jug

This jug was made at Totland Bay Pottery on the Isle of Wight by Kenneth A Scotcher. The backstamp to the jug bears his initials in the centre of the stamp. The pottery was founded in 1958 and this piece bears the style of one made in the late 1950s or early 1960s. The style is reminiscent of the more feted work that was produced by Rye Pottery at the same time.

The jug is in good condition with no chips or cracks but does bear a manufacturing error – there are a few small areas where the translucent final glaze has not adhered to the jug properly, it is, however, still a handsome hand-decorated jug that could be used for either milk or cream.

Measurements:

Height: 9.1cm
Diameter (at rim): 8.1cm
