Geometric Jug marked GP
I have been unable to authenticate much from the GP marking to the underside of this creamware jug. There are pieces made with a the mark G P Co which were by George Proctor and Co who became Gladstone Pottery but stylistically this doesn’t fit with their output.
The geometric form of the vase suggests a late 19th Century influenced by some of the designs of Christopher Dresser.
There are some yellow discolouration marks to the lower section but these are not particularly noticeable. There is also a small fragment of unglazed clay attached to the inside bottom of the jar. I have gently tried to dislodge this to no avail so it is probably best left where it is.
Otherwise in good condition with no chips or cracks.
Diameter (max): 13cm approx.
