Chandos Vintage Bowl
This bowl was made in the Chandos pattern by Keeling & Co Pottery who were based at Dale Hall Works in Burslem, Stoke on Trent. Early on in the genesis of her career this company employed Charlotte Rhead as an enameller. The company was founded in 1886 and ceased activity in circa 1936.
The pattern appears to be a depicition of a peach tree on the four longest sides of an octagonal dish. The dish itself may have left the factory in an unfinished state as other examples of this pattern include a bright orange coloured fruit alongside the peaches. This bowl probably dates to the early 1930s.
It is a handsome pattern and although the bowl has lost some of the gilt decoration thaht would have run around the rim of the bowl it is otherwise in good condition with no chips or cracks.
