Black Devonway Pottery Vase

Devonway Pottery was established by Bill Balkam in 1969 in Kingsbridge, Devon. Bill had previously worked at Dartmouth Pottery and the forms and colour palette that he used at his own pottery certainly reference those of the company where he had previously worked. Devonway produced wares up until the late 1980s; this piece probably dates to the early 1970s.

The shape of the vase owes much to the strength of designs by Constace Spry for Fulham Pottery, although the foliate motif on the faces of the vase mark it out as being from the 1970s.

There is some flaking to the glaze on the inside of the vase but it is otherwise in good condition with no chips or cracks.

Measurements:

Height: 14cm
Length: 26.5cm
Depth (front to back): 9cm
