This book offers a history of the party and the collaboration between the Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute and Vogue which was first held in 1948 and also a history of the department and the exhibitions that they have organised and held including the blockbuster Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty exhibition of 2011 which was attended by 661,509 visitors.

The book contains photographs beyond the red carpet and includes the Anglomania event of 2006 and the Punk: Chaos to Couture event of 2013. The last event in this book is 2014’s Charles James beyond fashion event.
