The Omega vintage wristwatch shown above dates to circa 1940 (although very possibly the late 1930s). It is a very unusual and rare steel wristwatch with a strongly faceted, tonneau-form, case. The watch has a superb original black dial that has evenly oxidised across the surface. The gilt numerals, tracks and very finely engine turned subsidiary seconds dial are typical features of period black dials such as this (see image above right).
The movement is a calibre 26,5 T2 (image above left) which Omega introduced in 1926 and later became the first of Omega’s movements to be fitted with shock resistance to the balance staff.
This watch meaures: width excluding winding crown: 31mm; length including lugs: 38mm.
This watch was sold at Black Bough in 2013.
