Terrible sad news reaches me of the death of Felicity Powell. Felicity was one of the artists that I knew when I was in London; her studio was in the block of space that I managed in West London; her space was one of a few not located in the main building but rather in a slightly cavernous corrugated metal shed on site. When I left London, and those studios closed, she moved to the new spaces just a stones throw from the old ones. Felicity was always an engaging and thoughtful presence; not at all boastful about her many achievements and accolades; quietly getting on with her practice and also her curatorial projects. The video piece above shows the creation of her wax pieces and her ability to conjure multi-layered beauty with elements of the macabre.
